The eve of the Super Bowl brought the NFL Honors show, where the winners of league's MVP and other major awards — as well as the winners of many awards you've never heard of or forgot existed — were announced during a ceremony in Miami.
Sporting News already announced its NFL awards for the 2019 season, as voted on by players and coaches. Among the winners were Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson for Offensive Player of the Year, Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore for Defensive Player of the Year and 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo as Comeback Player of the Year.
Many Sporting News winners earned honors in The Associated Press' voting announced Saturday, with Jackson winning MVP, Gilmore taking DPOY and 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa claiming Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Jackson became the consensus MVP favorite midway through the season, and Saturday he became the second unanimous winner in history. The second-year QB broke multiple records in 2019 thanks to his unparalleled ability and willingness to use his legs in combination with a massive improvement as a passer from his rookie year. He finished with 3,127 passing yards and 36 touchdowns through the air and a 66.1 completion percentage, and added 1,206 rushing yards and seven more scores on the ground.
